Custom website: 4-12+ weeks depending on complexity. Everything needs to be built, tested, and debugged from scratch.

This is where myths need to be busted. Many people believe "custom websites rank better than WordPress". This is NOT automatically true.
WordPress with proper SEO: WordPress with Yoast or RankMath SEO plugin, combined with a fast theme and good content, can rank extremely well on Google. Many of the highest-ranking websites in India use WordPress.
Custom websites: A custom website in the hands of an SEO-savvy developer can be perfectly optimized. But the technology choice matters less than the quality of optimization and content.

Custom website: Depends entirely on what admin panel was built. Many custom sites don't have a good CMS, making content updates require developer involvement (costing time and money). Good custom sites include a custom-built admin panel.

WordPress: Can scale well for most business needs, but has limits. When you need complex custom functionality that doesn't fit neatly into the WordPress paradigm, you'll hit walls. Large traffic spikes can also bring WordPress sites down without proper infrastructure.
Custom website: Infinitely scalable if architected properly. You can build exactly what you need without working around any system's limitations.

WordPress: Requires regular updates to WordPress core, themes, and plugins. Updates can sometimes break things, requiring developer attention. Security monitoring is important. Monthly cost: ₹2,000 – ₹8,000 for professional maintenance.
Custom website: Less frequent updates needed (no plugin updates to worry about). But when bugs are found, only a developer familiar with the custom code can fix them. Monthly cost: ₹3,000 – ₹15,000 depending on complexity.
Winner for maintenance simplicity: Tie — both require regular attention
WordPress: Thousands of themes available, but "premium" designs cost ₹3,000 – ₹10,000. Page builders like Elementor give visual control, but designs can look generic. True uniqueness requires custom theme development (which increases cost significantly).
Custom website: 100% design freedom. Your website can look and work exactly as you envision, with no limitations imposed by a theme or builder.

The technology matters far less than the quality of the developer. A skilled developer can build a fast, SEO-optimized, secure website in either WordPress or custom code. An unskilled developer can create a problematic website in either too.
